From Thirsty Lawn to Edible Garden
Our clients’ large, flat lawn did little more than use a lot of water. They envisioned a drought tolerant, low maintenance landscape that included a complex and entertaining play space for their kids, and a food producing edible garden.
We repurposed and repositioned existing stacked stone vegetable boxes, and re-used the stone from another to create a mounded focal point.
Stone steps and boulder seating at the base of the mound gives the yard texture and visual variation. We covered the mound with topsoil and added stabilizing plantings surrounding the stone creek bed. Spilling from the top of the mound, the creek flows into rounded stone lake bed, visually anchoring the focal point to the rest of the garden.
Beneath the trees at the far end of the garden, a gentle bench swing sits beside a bubbling, boulder fountain – a cozy spot to sit and relax.
